Samantha Ouellette grew up in rural Connecticut and often relied on her favorite stories to transport her to worlds far away from her small town. She earned her bachelor's degree in history and English from Boston College, where she spent countless hours surrounded by books as a circulation desk clerk in the libraries. Having interned with Post Road Magazine and Grosvenor Literary Agency, she attended the Columbia Publishing Course after graduating college. She joined DGB in 2025 to assist Jane Dystel.
Samantha is not open to queries, but she loves fiction spanning family generations, memoirs, historical fiction, and cookbooks with deliciously stunning photography.
Samantha says...
My elementary-school self was determined to not like reading until I stumbled across my dad's dusty collection of Christopher Paolini's Inheritance series. Magic and dragons? I was hooked. I spent the rest of second grade lugging each doorstop of a book around the school and secretly, though likely not very discreetly, reading under my desk. I became an unabashed book lover.
When deciding on a college major, no one was surprised that I chose English. I didn't have a career path in mind until I learned about publishing my junior year, and attending the Columbia Publishing Course confirmed my dream of joining the industry.
Now, I always have a book packed for the train, and I'm grateful to be part of the DGB team and learn from our talented agents and incredible authors.
