Kemi Faderin Personal Essay

Growing up, I was never much of a reader. I preferred watching stories unfold on the TV screen and never thought twice about the books gathering dust on my shelf. It wasn’t until I went through a difficult year after turning twelve, that I found my salvation in books (all thanks to my 8th grade Reading teacher!).

Early on in my college career I knew I didn’t want to do anything that did not relate to books in some way, and my best prospect was the publishing industry. The idea of having a hand in working on a book that can inspire, encourage and save people appealed to me very much and I feel truly blessed and honored to be here at DGLM.
