I can tell you that I wrote, revised, rehearsed, revised, rehearsed that 110-second pitch about 400 times over 3 weeks. My big takeaway was that when I delivered the pitch to my wife, my friends, it became very clear where I went long, where the pitch lacked focus. This was after paying a very good editor to help me write my query letter, which I\’d thought was a killer. So, delivering the pitch verbally to real people made for an enormously better query letter. It\’s a practice I intend to continue with my next novel. I got 6 requests for partials or fulls out of 8 agents, and the two No\’s were complimentary of the pitch but just didn\’t match my genre. I\’m sorry we didn\’t meet but I hope you got some great possibilities.
