Canadians read a lot too. Our island has 4500 people and our library has over 100k checkouts per year.

Thank you for your flattering comments about our area…esp. by calling us a “city of 100,000″. It’s closer to 65,000 within city limits.

You mentioned three bookstores. I can think of two others on the outskirts of town. Sadly for us, we have only one “mainstream” bookstore at the Mall; all these others are a bit specialized and somewhat more for the “gentry”. Also sadly for us, several years ago we lost a wonderful used bookstore located just off the main drag.
