The Time Magazine review fairly seethed with PC rage (Although HP wasn’t anything like the goody-two-shoes American authors would’ve made him) and generally wished Artemis and his upstart author into the depths of the Red Sea for his impertinence. Series went on to do quite well, as did his creator, as I recall. Oh, and I suppose we’ve got to quote something for the occasion here, so:
“The Irish are a loving folk and every man’s their brother; they only fight with Englishmen and also with each other…” It’s shame they never made any of Owen’s stuff into a movie, but I guess we don’t want to give the Bart Simpsons of the world any more ideas…………………..
