Michael,
You probably knew this, but I didn't until yesterday - Bowie has an instrumental piece called Speed of Life! Same as my upcoming book title. I don't think I ever thought I made up that title, but I hadn't really heard it as a title of anything either. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11mhZFDSkyg When I chose that title for my book, did you know? I guess it will be my theme song.

I was a Bowie lover of the eighties era. I had a blue vinyl single of Blue Jean which I thought was the bees knees. And all those videos...late at night when MTV was new...that's the Bowie I think of. Oh, and I did love him in Extras too. That was so hilarious.

Oddly enough, aside from \"Space Oddity\" (one of the stoner anthems of all time) the performance that sticks in my head is his role in HUNGER, a goth-classic flick from around 1980 which is marred (ruined, really) by jump-cuts of a tortured lab monkey which the director kept inserting to try to give it edge, as if it didn\'t already have plenty. He was a great actor as well as one of the best musicians of what I call the Ground Zero rock era... I was taken by surprise, not on my probably-die-early-list, but with the Beatles, The Who, and the The Beach Boys running 50% and more casualty rates, (mostly from candle-at-both-ends hard living) I\'d gotten used to mortality in his neighborhood. So, with all this in mind. how the hell did the Rat Pack live to be so damn old?!
