Such a helpful article! Thank you, Jim, for a great list of questions and the included commentary. Your posts always make me laugh while I’m learning. I’d also like to see a list of questions you would ask a prospective author as an agent. It would be fantastic to see the flip side of the interview.

Terrific, Jim! These are new waters for most of us. It’s like being a 16 year old: just being wanted seems like everything. I guess it’s like they say about any relationship, being in a bad one is worse than not being in one at all.

Thanks for this detailed checklist and for explaining the reasons behind the items. My fav tip was about the preferred way to communicate. I absolutely hate phone calls but will suffer through them when necessary, and it wasn\\\’t on my list of things to ask about when I get to doing the nitty-gritty agent sorting. It would be a important point for me.
