If we are talking about fiction, a character\’s views, beliefs, and values are all part of the package and must be accepted as valid — providing the author is able to make them believably part of the package.

What I mean is to say, maybe Dolezal truly related more with black culture and she was being her authentic self. It would explain wanting to go to a historical black college, and even suing when she felt she was turned down because of her race.

It’s possible that labels of skin color and sexual attraction and gender aren’t at all uselful like they once were. It’s also possible that Dolezal shouldn’t be punished for being a fake, but rewarded for being, what in her mind, was real.

You’d have to talk to her to know.

As far as subjects I would or wouldn’t tackle, I don’t know, I guess whatever is authentic to the characters and the stories I’m given.
