I would kill to see James Allen McPherson come out with a new collection of short stories or even a novel soon. Elbow Room is, in my humble opinion, a criminally underrated collection of short stories.

I’m also excited to see what Jeffrey Eugenides does next. Especially since The Marriage Plot was such a mess—relative to those first two masterful works of course, but a mess all the same.

I picked up ‘The Secret History’ by accident and then spent the week-end reading it. Even now, I’m not sure why it works so well – although I reckon the contrast between the pseuds and Bunny the Philistine was a crucial factor.

The funny thing is that I couldn’t get into the ‘The Little Friend’ at all. I could say Southern Gothic isn’t my thing – but then, neither is the campus novel. Go Figure.

Before I was lucky enough to be her co-writing partner in crime, I was just plain smitten by Steph Campbell’s writing as a reader, and it was through her book, *Grounding Quinn,* that I discovered Bobby Long. I loved listening to Long’s music after I read the book and imagining Quinn’s favorite songs. Now Steph and I are trying to attend a Bobby Long concert together…it’s amazing how I started out as a huge fan of the book, but now it’s become tied into my life through music and friendship!
