With all the reading I have to do for work, I’ve turned down a few requests to join book clubs. Plus, in my spare time, I want to be sure I’m reading the things I really want to read, not a book chosen by committee. But if I were going to join a bookclub, I’d love to be in this one. I can dream, can’t I?
That looks like a very cool book club!
I have to say that one of the things I love about my book club is reading books I wouldn't normally pick. I read Water for Elephants and loved it, although I never would have picked up a book about a circus on my own!

Though that book club sounds prestigeous, I'm afraid it would be a little boring. No fiction? Those rich guys don't know how to have fun.
Thai cookery? Rich people can't spare a few hours for fiction but want to read about Thai cookery?
No, I don't want to be a member. But I'd love having the option to decline.

Talk about enjoying freedom before you're published — when you're rich, you're never free. Everyone thinks they want wealth but it's a trap. Everyone wants to win the lottery, but those who do are miserable after. For one, you never know who your real friends are.
Some of my most unhappy, dysfunctional patients were those w/ great wealth. Come to think of it, I should have one of those stories in my manuscript — will work on it.
